Legal framework :

The law n°1-99-16 of February 5, 1999 related to micro credit, promulgated on February 5, 1999, requests the institutions wishing to grant micro credits to justify of their viability. they are expected to produce a business plan , as well as a forecast of the human and financial means necessary to their development. Only the institutions fitting with these conditions obtain the agreement of the Ministry of the Economy and Finances.

The Fondep obtained this approval on March 10, 2000

This law was amended by the law N° 58-03 to extend the field of intervention of microfinance institutions to the financing of acquisition, restoration or extension of the social housing in favour of poor households, as well as the electrification the water of their residences .
